The roads winding through the mountains and valleys between Greenville and Asheville — and all the off-road bike trails in between — are a rider’s paradise. The biking press have named our hometowns among the best cycling cities in the country, and the roads and trails that wind through the region’s parks and forests are consistently recognized as the best places to ride in the Southeast.
The Cliffs has its own thriving cycling community, led by our director of cycling, world-renowned American cycling legend George Hincapie. After settling in the Greenville area and opening a cyclist-friendly boutique hotel, Hotel Domestique, Hincapie has partnered with The Cliffs to develop special programs for members, leading private rides throughout the year and participating in special events at The Cliffs. Members in turn can rent bicycles and participate in programs at Hotel Domestique, which is just minutes from The Cliffs Valley, The Cliffs at Glassy and The Cliffs at Mountain Park.
Whether members are new to cycling or have been doing it for years, they’ll find groups, programs and classes for improving and enjoying the ride. Day to day, former USA Cycling Coach Vance Ferrigno leads the pack, leading group rides and one-on-one training. Many popular cycling routes start close to our community gates, and riders will find friendly stops along trails and roads for a quick bite to eat or a tune-up at one of the many local bike shops.
