7 Ways to Enjoy Autumn at The Cliffs

Our beautiful Blue Ridge Mountain setting is spectacular year-round, but it truly comes alive in the fall. When the air is crisp and the leaves have changed, you’ll find yourself itching to explore every corner of The Cliffs’ seven clubs and the beguiling Blue Ridge beyond our gates. Soak up the season with these autumn adventures at The Cliffs.

1. Lace Up
Join a group hike with your fellow members along miles of hiking trails within The Cliffs communities or one of many nearby state parks and national forests. Each month, The Cliffs Exploration Team leads hikes of various lengths and difficulties, though all offer rewarding views.

2. Clip In
The winding mountain roads within and surrounding our seven mountain and lake club communities are a cyclist’s dream — made even better by the opportunity to ride with Tour de France legends George Hincapie, Bobby Julich and Christian Vande Velde.

3. Saddle Up
Book a trail ride at the Equestrian Center and take a ride through the Jocassee Gorges Wilderness Area to experience on horseback what National Geographic called one of the “World’s Last Great Places.”

4. Grab a Paddle
Explore Lake Keowee by kayak on paddle tours led by The Cliffs Exploration Team. You’ll discover the quiet coves of Lake Keowee while immersed in the autumn splendor of the surrounding mountains.

5. Serve an Ace
Crisp fall days are a refreshing time to hit the tennis courts. Grab a friend for a relaxed set or join singles or doubles hand-matched by The Cliffs’ tennis professionals.

6. Cast a Line
Fall can be a tricky — but extremely rewarding — time of year to fish. Whether bass fishing on Lake Keowee or casting a fly in the French Broad River with The Cliffs Fishing Guide Nick Rubio, late afternoon is going to be the best time of day to score a great catch.

7. Tee Off
Lastly, play a round on one of our nationally-acclaimed golf courses. Each is unique and exhilarating throughout the year, but they all become a spectacular palette of ruby and gold in autumn. Just try not to be too distracted by your gorgeous surroundings!
