5 Bedroom(s), 6/3 Bathroom(s)
Built to accommodate family and friends to visit and reminisce. Design was imperative but entertainment paramount and by all reports (including my own) it has lived up to its expectations.
The .9 acre point lot spans over 460 feet of Lake Keowee shoreline and affords the owner privacy from both the street and the lake. Views to the house and from the house are equally impressive. Current owners prefer a wooded setting but a buyer who wants a more open lake setting can easily accomplish that. Kayaks are stored on the beach, accessed via wide stone steps.
A Morgan Keefe & Neil Prince collaboration of architectural highlights and incredible quality. Carol Hamilton, the interior designer, fine-tuned key elements from furniture selection to lighting and cabinetry. All furnishings remain as they compliment the home to perfection.
A striking circle design in the gate is echoed by the gentle curve over the portico and repeated in several location throughout the house. A blend of fieldstone, slate and limestone, the double-sided fireplace is enjoyed from the Great Room while gathering prior to dinner as well as from the Dining Room during dinner.
The home is built on a native fieldstone base and foundation. Fieldstone was used for the retaining walls as well to blend with its surroundings. The roof is 50-year manufactured slate. The solid mahogany front door was crafted entirely by hand in the Amish tradition. With just the touch of a button, the Lutron lighting control system enables one to set the mood for the gathering. Power out? No problem with a whole house generator!
The lake level is dedicated to entertaining guests both indoors and out. The bar reflects time spent in England, the stone fireplace a holdover from Vermont days, the billiards table a toast to frat brothers, the theater a nod to grandchildren and the incredible gym an annual new year's resolution! Step out to a covered patio boasting stone arches and phenomenal lake views. From there wander down stone steps to a lakeside patio.
The formal Rutt crafted walk behind cherry bar with granite top surfaces contains a subzero 240 bottle wine cooler, dishwasher, microwave, fridge and cherry cabinet for glassware. In front of the bar the cherry soffit curves to follow the radius of the bar. The 110' screen in the home theater offers comfortable leather chairs & ottomans, tiered for optimal viewing. Perhaps this should be referred to as the "entertainment" level.
The master is a haven for owners with a fireplace, sitting area, spa inspired bathroom and generous 24x12 walk in closet highlighting custom Rutt cabinets. A private deck, facing west for sunsets, features a sunken hot tub. No rooms are above the master, a calculated decision. An outstanding office sits at the top of the stairs outside the master and offers lake views, sliding windows that invite the lake breezes in and a powder room across the hall. This wing connects to the guest wing via a catwalk that overlooks the Great Room. Guests are spoiled by four ensuite accommodations accessed a separate staircase in the far wing of the house.
The club chef relishes being engaged for in home catering. With a spacious kitchen, superb work spaces and direct access from the courtyard he and his staff enjoy the freedom the owners afford them to create a sensational dining experience. On an informal basis the grandkids delight in visiting with Nana at the eating bar. The breakfast nook is perfect for when there are no guests! Sub Zero appliances, oversized pantry, pot filler at the cook top, copper color back splash and other elements combine to define this as a true gourmet's kitchen.
The list goes on and is more than our space will allow; unbelievable grilling 'closet' outside the kitchen, two built in safes with reinforced flooring, two laundry rooms, outdoor shower and much more. There is really a list, just ask!
