Community Meets Competition
The 2025 Alliance Golf Tournament was an exciting and fiercely competitive event that brought together members and employees from all seven communities at The Cliffs. This unique tournament format saw pairs of members teaming up with staff from The Cliffs to battle it out on the greens, aiming for the coveted title of Alliance Golf Tournament champions.
This year, the dynamic duo of member John Hewson and Director of Operations Jeff Tyrrell emerged victorious, showing incredible teamwork and skill throughout the day. Their win capped off an exhilarating championship round that saw top players from each of the seven communities come together for one final showdown at the beautiful Keowee Springs course.
THE FORMAT
The tournament followed a thrilling and distinctive structure that made it both challenging and fun. Each community hosted a local tournament, where the top 5 teams from each advanced to the championship round. This year’s championship was held at Keowee Springs, one of our most picturesque and scenic courses.
The first nine holes of the final round were played in a scramble format, allowing teams to work together to get the best possible score on each hole. But the challenge didn’t end there — the second nine holes switched to a modified alternate shot format, testing both individual skill and team coordination under pressure. The format added an extra layer of excitement, making every shot count in the race to the top.
