The Cliffs Valley Unveils $500,000 in Golf Course Enhancements

After a 15-week renovation, we are pleased to announce that The Cliffs Valley golf course has reopened for play!

The first American course designed by renowned broadcaster Ben Wright, The Cliffs Valley course made its debut in 1995 and has been a member favorite ever since. This nationally-acclaimed parkland-style course follows the natural contours and elevation changes of its Blue Ridge Mountain setting, challenging members to play over and around streams, ponds and rolling hills.

This year’s half-million dollar overhaul included converting all putting surfaces to Champion Bermudagrass, as well as the addition of one fairway bunker, one greenside bunker and the expansion of two fairway bunkers.

“We are thrilled with the results of this renovation and are delighted to bring this course back into play. Our team is grateful to Ben Wright, who was an integral part in the redesign, developing a new, unique experience for our members,” said Brian Peeples, Director of Golf Operations at The Cliffs.

Designer Ben Wright was instrumental in the enhancements made to the Valley course this summer, personally overseeing every stage of the project. While the course reopens today, we’ll celebrate the grand re-opening Saturday, September 9 with a day of celebration including a ceremonial ribbon cutting by Mr. Wright himself and the opportunity for Valley golfers to show their skills during the “Best Ball” tournament. The festivities will continue into the evening with a grand Reopening Celebration at The Cliffs Valley clubhouse — it’ll be a night to remember as we swap stories from the day’s play, honor the winners of the Best Ball tournament, indulge in a festival of flavors by Chef Victor, and dance the night away to the sounds of The Cliffs’ very own Falls Creek Rush band!
