Within the woodlands that surround our Blue Ridge Mountain communities, magical trails weave up and down hillsides, across and along mountain streams, and past magnificent waterfalls. If you love to explore what’s just around the corner, our in-community hiking trails offer charming, breathtaking wanderings. Some of our trails were even designed and built by The Cliffs members themselves, making them even more beloved.
If you’re up for exploring outside the gates, hundreds of miles of trails wind through the national and state parks, forests and protected lands surrounding our communities and more than 75 waterfall hikes await within 30 miles of The Cliffs’ seven communities.
Within The Cliffs gates you’ll find miles upon miles of trails, from paths traversing over babbling mountain streams to rushing waterfalls and mountaintop trails offering awe-inspiring vistas of the Blue Ridge Mountains we call home. Explore the trail maps for each of our seven communities and get a taste of the adventure that awaits you at The Cliffs.
Our location puts you within reach of some of the country’s most spectacular state and national parks, forests, and protected wilderness areas. Just minutes from The Cliffs gates are Table Rock, Devil’s Fork, Keowee Toxaway and Paris Mountain State Parks, offering hiking and mountain biking trails, fishing and opportunities to explore by kayak and canoe, as well as idyllic spots to camp out with the whole family.
DuPont State Recreational Forest and the Pisgah National Forest are also just a stone’s throw away, offering tens of thousands of acres awaiting exploration. The Blue Ridge Parkway, part of the U.S. National Park Service, is just minutes from The Cliffs at Walnut Cove and is your gateway to countless more adventures.
Engaging and discovering our area’s natural surroundings and outdoor adventures is the purpose of The Cliffs Exploration Series, a program that provides group sports and opportunities for adventure—all led by outdoor specialists. Embark on a whitewater rafting tour on the streams and rivers of the Blue Ridge Mountains one week; zip-line through the Green River Gorge the next. The Cliffs Exploration Series offers stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, scuba diving, fly fishing, off-road driving at the BMW Performance Center, and many other exhilarating ways to embrace the adventure of our rugged surroundings.
