Walnut Cove Members Association Raises Record $330,000 During Annual Weekend of Giving

The Walnut Cove Members Association (WCMA), a 501(c)3 organization comprised of members of The Cliffs at Walnut Cove, raised a record $330,000 during their annual “Weekend of Giving” earlier this month. The five-day “Weekend” will have a lasting effect for charitable organizations across Western North Carolina.

In 2007, WCMA began with one activity — a golf tournament with local businesses sponsoring each hole. Now, eleven years later, the organization’s annual event has morphed into almost a week of fundraising festivities. The 2018 Weekend of Giving included:

The Opening “Grow the Green” Charity Gala

Croquet & Craft Beer
A “Truly Wicket” Alice in Wonderland-Themed Event

Showcase of the Arts
Featuring Performances by Asheville Symphony, Brevard Music Center and Flat Rock Playhouse

Charity Tennis Event

Tiki Tiki Luau

and a Charity Golf Tournament
Including Golf Club Donations for The First Tee

WCMA is committed to giving back to the Asheville and greater Western North Carolina community. Any member of WCMA actively involved in a local charitable organization that meets WCMA’s guidelines can request a grant for up to $10,000. To date, the WCMA has awarded 270 grants totaling $970,000 to local charities, including the Buncombe County Special Olympics, Mission Children’s Hospital, Asheville Humane Society and more.

WCMA continues to grow, with over 225 household members and now over $1 million raised since 2007. The Cliffs and Walnut Cove Realty are proud to support our members and this inspiring organization that continues to have a profound impact on Western North Carolina.
