The Dog Days of Summer at The Cliffs

How to Savor the Last Days of Summer

The dog days of summer are officially here! These next few weeks are sure to be warm and filled with lots of sunshine across all seven of our communities. As this season draws to a close, it’s time to take advantage of the last of summer’s pleasures.

We have gathered a list of ideas for enjoying the upcoming days, before we enter the beautiful fall season of the Carolinas.

1. Stop by The Beach Club

During the spring to fall months, The Beach Club at Keowee Springs is a hub of activity for members and their families. We offer a wide range of activities for all levels of water enthusiasts, including wakeboarding, family boat cruises to waterfalls, and more, as part of our Outdoor Pursuits Program. Our staff can help you plan an adventure regardless of experience level, so don’t be shy and get out there.

Members can also rent kayaks and paddleboards at the Surf Shop down by the water. Explore the ins and outs of the intricate coves of Lake Keowee. When it comes time to cool off, simply jump right in!

2. Hit Up the Pool(s)

Summer at The Cliffs was made for enjoying a dip in one of the beautiful swimming pools. Take a dip in one of our community’s pools or visit The Beach Club’s waterslides to cool off. There are plenty of outdoor seating areas for parents who prefer to watch the kids swim. Casual dining options are available at each pool and clubhouse so no one will go hungry.

3. The Early Bird Gets the Worm

It gets a bit warm this time of year, and while some love a bit of heat on their skin, others may prefer to stay out of the sun. Sign up for a morning tee time at your favorite course at The Cliffs to escape the heat and get an early start on the day. By the time you’re done with your round in the early afternoon you can head over to the course’s clubhouse for a delicious lunch and cocktail.

4. Check out the Catch of the Day

The abundance of natural waterways surrounding each of the communities, including those not on Lake Keowee, allow you to fish right in your neighborhood. Grab your fishing rod and explore your neighborhood. For some serious sport fishing, the French Broad River and Lake Keowee are excellent spots to try.

5. Trek to a Waterfall

A good workout, scenic views, and the chance to cool off all in one — sounds like the ideal summer day. Check out Todd Creek, Long Creek, Jones Gap, and Douglas Falls for easy to moderate hikes that lead to some of the area’s most beautiful waterfalls. All are within close distance to one of our communities. Members can even sign up for an excursion that involves a scenic hike to a waterfall where a guide teaches you to rappel down it! Summer at The Cliffs has never been more daring!

6. Try Something New and Exciting

Speaking of excursions, members get access to private outings developed just for community members. Off-site excursions this time of year may range from a trip to Charlotte’s National Whitewater Center, kayaking down the French Broad or Seneca rivers, ziplining high above a national forest, river rafting along the Chattooga, or paddling around Lake Keowee during a full moon.
