As bright orange and crimson leaves begin to carpet the mountain tops and the warm smell of apple cider and pumpkin spice fills the air, the spirit of autumn begins to take hold. And there are few places more spectacular to spend the fall season than in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. So, mark your calendars and come celebrate the season with fall events at The Cliffs! 

These are a few of the most exciting autumn events our team has organized for the Cliffs’ members. Let’s take a look!

1. Apple Picking at Sky Top Apple Orchard –– October 4

There’s no better way to kick off the fall season than by going apple picking! Join us on October 4th to take in the fall weather and delight in the many tasty treats that Sky Top Orchard has to offer –– apple cider doughnuts being at the top of our list, of course! Nominated as USA Today’s 10 Best Apple Orchards, Sky Top sits atop Mt. McAlpine in Zirconia, NC, and affords a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. The trip includes a 3-pound bag of apples, an apple cider doughnut, and a glass of apple cider. Yum!

2. Oktoberfest at Valley –– October 6

While originally a marriage ceremony that took place in Munich in the 1800s, today, we celebrate Oktoberfest as a way to connect with German culture and craft beer. Join us for local beers, live music, and authentic German dishes, such as roast chicken, classic Bavarian sausages, and soft pretzels prepared by our outstanding culinary team.

3. Masterminds of Mixology at Keowee Falls –– October 7

Hosted by The Cliffs at Keowee Falls bartenders, the Masterminds of Mixology is a series of classes aimed to help sharpen participants’ bartending skills. Participants will learn new mixing and serving techniques, as well as flavor combinations and original recipes created by our team. So, if you want to impress your next dinner party guests, be sure to join us for these engaging classes!

4. Wine Dinner at Mountain Park –– October 7

If you consider yourself a connoisseur of wine, the upcoming Wine Dinner is perfect for you! Featuring a variety of wines from Wagner Vineyard and a dinner menu created by our exceptional culinary team, this night will be filled with delicious food, great wine, and great company! The wine selection will include Emmolo Sparkling, Emmolo Sauvignon Blanc, Red Schooner Malbec, Caymus Cabernet, and Grand Durif (Petit Sirah). 

5. Burial Beer Co. Facility Tour and Tasting hosted by Walnut Cove –– October 9

Kick off the month of Halloween and embark on a 60-minute walking tour experience at the Burial-Forestry Camp production facility and VISUALS winery. You’ll gather behind-the-scenes knowledge about the history and future of Burial Beer Co. Immerse yourself in the introspective realm this unique Asheville Brewery, calls home. Anthony Vargas, from the Wellness Team, will chauffeur members to and from the location.

6. Skydiving hosted by Mountain Park –– October 12

Join us for the adventure of a lifetime at Skydive Carolina. You will go through a 30-minute instruction class, before joining your tandem instructor on the aircraft. While in freefall, you will accelerate to over 120 miles per hour for up to 60 seconds. Once the parachute is deployed, you will enjoy a breathtaking five-minute flight under the canopy.

7. Oyster Roast at Mountain Park –– October 22

As the temperature dips and outdoor festivities kick off, come get a taste of fall flavor at this year’s Oyster Roast with all-you-can-eat oysters on the half shell and fixin’s. Whether fried, baked, raw, or in a stew, there’s no shortage of ways to enjoy Chef Kevin’s oyster dishes.  

8. Oyster Fest at Walnut Cove –– October 22

If you’re looking to enjoy endless oysters at The Cliffs while staying a little closer to home, we will also be hosting an Oyster Fest at The Tavern at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove. The event takes place on the same night as the Oyster Roast mentioned above –– so, come out and join us for great food, great mountain views, and live music in the Asheville Region

9. SportsmanTrail Outing at Keowee Springs –– October 24

Are you up for an outdoor adventure where you can partake in ax throwing, archery, slingshots, and more? The Keowee Springs Outdoor Pursuits Team is leading the outing where participants will make their way through the 12 stations that make up our signature Sportsman Trail. 

10. Murder Mystery Dinner at Walnut Cove –– October 30

Get in the spirit of the season with our Murder Mystery Dinner at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove. As you enjoy your evening meal, we will be investigating a crime –– making for an unforgettable night. So, if you’re ready to put your detective skills to the test and help crack the case, this event is right up your alley!  

11. Spooktacular Halloween Party at Keowee Springs –– October 31

Dress up in your favorite costume and participate in our Spooktacular Halloween celebrations at The Porch at The Cliffs. Enjoy musical favorites like The Monster Mash and Thriller while carving jack-o-lanterns and bobbing for apples.
