And that’s not just our opinion. The James Beard Foundation Awards recently announced its 2020 semi finalists, which included seven restaurants and chefs located just miles away from the seven communities of The Cliffs.
Each year seems to bring more recognition to the culinary scene of The Cliffs’ neighboring cities – Greenville, SC, Travelers Rest, SC and Asheville, NC – for their dedication to provide their citizens and visitors delicious cuisine year round.
This is the 30th anniversary of the James Beard Awards, which honor chefs, restaurants, bakers, bar programs, writers, journalists, and other people and places making waves in the food and beverage industry across more than 20 categories.
The finalists will be announced on March 25 after more than 600 judges across the U.S. cast their vote. It’s a who’s-who of culinary expertise including other James Beard Award winners, food and wine critics, culinary educators and more. The winners are set to be announced on May 4, 2020.
James Beard was a chef, cookbook author, teacher, and TV host who started the first television program devoted to food in 1946. He passed away in 1985, and the James Beard Foundation opened his home to the public the following year. Since, The Foundation has supported the culinary arts in a variety of ways.
