You’ve likely heard of Greenville, South Carolina.

The charming small town in Upstate South Carolina has experienced explosive growth in recent years. While this growth brings positive change, such as new community members, more adventures to experience, and a better quality of life, Greenville does a spectacular job of maintaining its small town feel and timeless charm.

Over and over again, Greenville ranks as one of the top places to live in countless publications and rankings determined by voters. Luxury homeowners looking to relocate or purchase a second home should look no further.

See for yourself why living in South Carolina is becoming a hot commodity and the life you can look forward to in Greenville.

1. Excellent Weather Year-Round

Upstate South Carolina is famous for its mild weather and four showstopping seasons. In each of them you will find locals out and about, spending as much time outdoors as possible. Fall and spring shine in Greenville, putting out brilliant colors from autumn-toned leaves to pastel blooms. Summers can be warm, but a short drive into the Blue Ridge Mountains provides cooler temperatures coupled with jaw-dropping views. Better yet, winters are mild in comparison to northern regions, as the rare snowfall doesn’t stick around long. Overall, the temperate climate is ideal for making the most of what the area has to offer.

2. Family-Friendly Adventures

A bustling downtown and the nearby mountains make for priceless memories with the family. Greenville is the perfect place to introduce your children to the outdoors, and like most residents here, they will soon foster a great love for it. Many breweries and restaurants are also kid-friendly, perfect for the parents who like to balance parenting with adult-appropriate fun.

Within the community, parents have a choice of over 130 preschools, plus high-rated public and private schools for all grade levels. Known as being one of the safest cities in South Carolina, families can feel confident about raising their children here.

3. Personal Access to Nature

Set against the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, life is never dull in this picturesque community. The famous mountain range offers hundreds of hiking, biking, and equestrian trails for exploring at your own pace. Plus, waterfalls, creeks, and rivers of all sizes are perfect for splashing, swimming, or paddling about. Watersports such as river kayaking and whitewater rafting are especially popular in this region.

In town, Falls Park on the Reedy is the local go-to spot for communing with nature at a moment’s notice. Over 32 acres of lush park snake along the Reedy River, providing manicured gardens, trails, and a suspension bridge with waterfront views just steps away from downtown.

4. Team Spirit at Clemson University

You may not be interested in attending Clemson University, but the school’s devotion to its National Championship football team is an experience you won’t want to miss. The camaraderie the locals share makes for a lively atmosphere, especially during football season. Their love and pride for the team is contagious, you can’t help but feel the urge to cheer them on as well. Game day means the downtown is alive and buzzing with excitement, and we always recommend attending a game or two.

However, sports aren’t the only reason to visit campus, that is just a short drive from Greenville. The South Carolina Botanical Gardens is a top attraction with its 295 acres of natural and landscaped grounds. Here, you can get lost in that wonder of a wildflower meadow, trickling stream, or butterfly garden.
