The Mountain Region

Located along the scenic Carolina mountains, The Cliffs’ Mountain Region is well connected to small towns, in both North and South Carolina. With easy access to Hendersonville, Flat Rock, and Greenville, you will be able to explore the charm and culture that these towns offer their guests.

This region is also home to some of America’s most spectacular state and national parks, forests, and protected wilderness areas, making it the perfect place to get in touch with nature. Also, the Carolina mountains offer a temperate climate, so you can enjoy your favorite outdoor activities throughout the year.

Living in the Mountains

In The Mountain Region at The Cliffs you will be able to have the adventure you’ve always dreamed of. From hidden lakes tucked between the mountains, to miles of scenic trails to hike or bike, this region brings everyone closer to the great outdoors. We even organize monthly exploration activities for our members to get in touch with nature. Members can hike in some of the best trails and waterfall hikes in the region, while meeting other members in the community.

At The Cliffs, we have designed three distinct communities in The Mountain Region, each offering a unique set of experiences for its residents. Let’s take a closer look at what makes each community so special.  

The Cliffs at Glassy 

The Cliffs at Glassy is where it all began for us. The first community at The Cliffs is built at the top of Glassy Mountain. The views from the summit can span 75 miles on a clear day. Once you visit, you’ll understand exactly why it was chosen as the location for The Cliffs’ founding community. 

Golf 

At The Cliffs at Glassy, you can find South Carolina’s only mountaintop golf course, designed by Tom Jackson, the former President of the American Society of Golf Course Architects. The course sits 3,000 feet above sea level, making it the ideal location for breathtaking views. It’s no wonder it’s ranked the fourth most scenic golf course in the country! 

Activities

Other activities at The Cliffs at Glassy include tennis and pickleball courts, yoga, and swimming all within the 5,000-square-foot Wellness Center. This community is strongly knit, with many social events, from weekly member-led potluck dinners to cigar club gatherings. 

The Glassy Chapel and Pavilion are a community favorite, with iconic views from the peak of Glassy Mountain. Here, members can gather for picnics or cocktail hours and enjoy the panoramic vistas from the top of the mountain.

The Cliffs at Mountain Park

At The Cliffs at Mountain Park community there are 2,000 acres of natural beauty all within its gates. Meandering rivers and streams wind through the rolling hills of this mountain community that is located right in the heart of the seven communities at The Cliffs.  

Golf 

Here you will find one of the most unique golf courses at The Cliffs. Designed by Gary Player with a modern twist, this links-style course will provide a completely different experience for golfers. Named one of GOLF Magazine’s Best New Modern Courses, the design, while not seaside, is reminiscent of Scottish lore. With native grasses and dramatic mounds players can enjoy the natural feel of the links course while taking in the mountain views. 

Activities

The Cliffs at Mountain Park offers endless trails for both hiking and mountain biking, as well as fishing in the North Saluda River or Greene Pond. There is even a lakeside picnic pavilion to enjoy the vistas while spending time with friends and family. The Cabin offers a cozy environment for dining and socializing with other members.

The Cliffs Valley

Located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, The Cliffs Valley offers panoramic vistas with the mountains in the background. This community is known for its vibrant social scene, with clubs for all interests. 

Golf 

The Ben Wright-designed golf course at The Cliffs Valley is one of our members favorite golf courses. This parkland-style course received Golf Digest’s Best New Course award when it debuted. The course was designed to be extremely walkable, making for an enjoyable game, every time. With its lush hills, picturesque mountain views, and sparkling waterfalls found throughout the course, players are out on the green almost every day of the year. 

Activities

In addition to a magnificent golf course, The Cliffs Valley also has a very active tennis community, with 8 Har-Tru courts for players to enjoy, plus 3 new pickleball courts. It is also home to a 15,000-square-foot wellness center for cardio and strength training. If you prefer a more social fitness environment, you can take part in group exercise classes led by fitness experts. With heated indoor and outdoor pools, swimmers can enjoy swimming laps throughout the year. 

Another wonderful opportunity for activities in the area comes from the Nature Center at The Cliffs Valley, a charming early-1900s stone cottage tucked away in the hills. Members can meet here for organized hiking trips, cycling, bird-watching outings and more outdoor adventures.
