In this post, we discover one of the more challenging courses at The Cliffs: The Cliffs at Keowee Falls. Designed by Jack Nicklaus, perhaps the most accomplished golfer of all time, the course accentuated the natural landscape of the Western Carolinas while highlighting the long-view vistas, creating a golfing experience members will want to come back for, time and time again. 

The Community

The Cliffs at Keowee Falls is one of three communities located in The Lake Region at The Cliffs. This community offers 20 miles of private shoreline along beautiful Lake Keowee in Upstate South Carolina. Given its mild climate, members can explore the private, natural sanctuary they call home all throughout the year. 

The Cliffs at Keowee Falls is a warm and welcoming community where being outdoors is an experience. From meandering streams to rushing waterfalls, you won’t even need to leave the gates to explore the mountainous landscape. Within the community are 10 miles of private trails for hiking and mountain biking, as well as blossoming fields — perfect for a private picnic. 

In addition, The Cliffs at Keowee Falls is just a short drive from Clemson, SC. This small university town is full of spirit and is a fun escape to shop, dine, catch a show, or enjoy a thrilling college football game. There is also easy access to the other two Cliffs communities on Lake Keowee: The Cliffs at Keowee Springs and The Cliffs at Keowee Vineyards, opening the door for even more member activities at The Cliffs.

The Cliffs at Keowee Falls Golf Course

A Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course should accentuate the natural beauty of the surrounding area, and The Cliffs at Keowee Falls does just that. Referred to as “Best in State” from Golf Digest, this course is an excellent golfing experience for players of all ages and skill levels, and the 160 acres of terrain offers picturesque views throughout the entire course.

The Golf Course 

The Keowee Falls golf course was designed by Jack Nicklaus, who is considered to be the greatest professional golfer of all time. During his 25-year career, he won 18 major championships, setting the bar for all professional golfers to chase. Having played on so many different courses around the world, he was able to become an accomplished designer as well. 

In line with his style, he seamlessly positioned the course within the residential community, and used Bermuda grass tees and fairways, along with Champion Ultra-dwarf on the greens, to make playing fast and firm. The course is also quite challenging because of Falls Creek, which flows through seven holes on the course. Players may want to bring along a few extra balls, just in case they make their way into the creek!

Clubhouse

The Keowee Falls clubhouse is known for its long porch that makes you feel right at home. Lined with rocking chairs, members can be found gently swaying back and forth enjoying the gentle breezes of this area. The 28,000-square-foot clubhouse also has an outdoor terrace overlooking the golf course and Falls Creek. After enjoying the sunset on the terrace, members can dine on Blue Ridge cuisine at the clubhouse which is creatively transformed by our award-winning chefs.

Tournaments 

In the spring, the Clemson Invitational is held at The Cliffs at Keowee Falls. Here, talented collegiate athletes from across the country come to compete for a spot in the National Championship. It’s a fun, energetic tournament that members at The Cliffs enjoy lending a hand and watching.

Golf Membership at The Cliffs

If golfing is your passion, the Golf Membership at The Cliffs was designed for you. This level of membership offers you a pass to all seven of the premier golf courses at The Cliffs. Each unique course offers players a thrilling challenge while allowing them to improve all areas of their game. Once you join, you will be assigned a home club based on the location of your residence. Here, members will be given priority for tee times and member tournaments. 

In addition to the golf facilities, members have access to the wellness centers, sports courts, and other amenities at The Cliffs. Each of our wellness centers offers personalized training sessions that can help you improve your golf game off the course. If you enjoy working out with others in a social environment, our professional trainers also hold group fitness classes. 

There are also indoor and outdoor pools for swimming laps, sports courts for tennis, and pickleball with other members. With so many ways to stay active, a membership at The Cliffs is perfect for every member of your family.
