Read on to learn about some of the most enjoyable luxury golf experiences you can indulge in at The Cliffs.
1. The Cliffs at Glassy –– A Scenic Course, Recognized Across the Country
Perched more than 3,000 feet above sea level on Glassy Mountain is The Cliffs at Glassy course. Known for its spectacular vistas that extend as far as the eye can see, it’s no surprise Golf Digest named it “the Fourth Most Scenic Course in the Nation”. Designed by Tom Jackson, former President of the American Society of Golf Course Architects, the 18-holes blend seamlessly with the natural landscape, accentuating the natural beauty of the land. The mountain course’s signature hole is by far the 13th hole, which offers players breathtaking 75-mile views of the Blue Ridge Mountains on a clear day.
2. Best in State –– The Cliffs at Walnut Cove and The Cliffs at Keowee Springs
The Cliffs is located in both North and South Carolina –– granting us the unique opportunity to be awarded Golf Digest’s “Best in State” honors in not one, but two states! In North Carolina, The Cliffs at Walnut Cove golf course steals the show with its open fields of former farmlands, cascading streams, and native woodlands of mountain laurel. Here, not only can you enjoy the Jack Nicklaus design, but you can also practice all areas of your game at the golf campus. After a good practice session, members can visit the golf house and shop for new gear and socialize with their fellow golfers.
Meanwhile, in Upstate South Carolina, The Cliffs at Keowee Springs golf course takes top honors. With its versatile design, players of all ages and skill levels can enjoy the sport. Its design has three loops of six holes and a set of family tees, so you can play six or 12 holes when you’re short on time. It also houses the largest practice facilities at The Cliffs, so building good golf habits and improving your game has never been easier.
3. Top Residential Courses –– The Cliffs at Mountain Park and The Cliffs at Keowee Vineyards
One of the advantages of living in a private golf community is the proximity to the course. Here at The Cliffs, this perk is only magnified with multiple award-winning residential courses within our community gates. For an authentically rustic experience, The Cliffs at Mountain Park course, designed by Gary Player, showcases native grasses, dramatic mounding, sand, and a river winding through the course, all coming together to create a natural luxury golf experience.
In The Lake Region, The Cliffs at Keowee Vineyards golf course is one-of-a-kind. With eight holes overlooking Lake Keowee and others scattered within the vineyards, this Tom Fazio design is a masterpiece our members are lucky to have in their backyard. The golf facilities also include a practice area that is tucked away from the course, creating a space to focus on truly developing your game.
4. Best New Course –– The Cliffs Valley and The Cliffs at Keowee Falls
Upon opening, two of our seven courses received recognition as the “best new courses” –– The Cliffs Valley and The Cliffs at Keowee Falls. Both courses are spectacular in their own right, adding to the luxury golf experience we have to offer players. For example, The Cliffs Valley course is located at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains, offering views of the soaring mountain peaks in all directions. Designed by Ben Wright, he brought a modern approach to the design and created a challenge players enjoy to play time and time again. This parkland-style course is walkable by nature, giving you the freedom to choose how you experience the course.
Named for Falls Creek, which meanders through the course’s design, The Cliffs at Keowee Falls also offers a rewarding way to play. Centered around the natural elements of the landscape, the Jack Nicklaus course features dramatic elevation changes, tree-lined fairways, and babbling streams and ponds to make play even more interesting. To relax after a competitive round, the clubhouse’s porch is the perfect place to sit back and take in the magnificent golf course views. Inside, there is also a pro shop for finding the best attire, shoes, and accessories for all of your golfing needs.
