5 Tips for Tailgating at Clemson Games

Your Ultimate Guide to a Fantastic Clemson Tailgate

Few universities have the energy and spirit that Clemson University has during game day! The sea of orange and the powerful chants of the crowd create an atmosphere that is unmatched –– and for those who live in the Clemson area, tailgating on campus is a must-do activity.

In this post, we help you plan the perfect Clemson tailgate, so you can “go all in”, show your school spirit, and cheer on your favorite team!

1. Check the Schedule

The last thing you want is to wake up one morning and realize the game you wanted to attend is today, and you haven’t made any plans. To avoid this, be sure to check the schedule and mark your calendar with the big games you are looking forward to attending. We recommend looking at their home schedule months prior to the start of the season, as they are popular and tickets are hard to come by. Once that is done, you can start looking for tickets!

2. Get Tickets

Given the popularity of Clemson athletic teams, it can be difficult to get tickets last second. That’s why we recommend starting your search early. The university uses an online ticketing system making the process much easier. Simply create an account, find the tickets you wish to purchase, and complete the transaction.

If you’re a true fan, you may consider purchasing season tickets to take the hassle out of having to find tickets separately. These tickets not only guarantee a seat at all of the home games but have a number of additional benefits. For example, football season ticket holders have:

  • The option to request tickets to the Clemson vs. Notre Dame game
  • Early access to single game and away games, along with post-season tickets
  • Two tickets to a non-conference basketball game

3. Purchase Clemson Gear

No Clemson tailgate is complete without lots of Clemson gear to show your school spirit! From jerseys and hats to cups and koozies, you’ll want to stock up on all your favorite gear. One of the best places to shop for university gear is The Tiger Sports Shop, which sells all official Clemson merchandise to get you ready for game day!

4. Find a Place to Set Up

Once on campus, tailgating usually takes place in the university’s parking lots. It is estimated that there are around 15,000 spots available to season ticket holders, so if you plan to tailgate regularly, this could be a good option. As always, be sure to request more specific information on where you can set up for the big day in case any changes have been made to the procedures.

5. Get Ready to Cheer!

With your tickets and gear in hand, you’re all set to go out and enjoy your Clemson tailgate and create memories that will last a lifetime. All that’s left to do is sit back and enjoy the game –– cheering on your favorite team. Go Tigers!
