From the Blue Ridge Mountains to Lake Keowee, there is always something happening at any of our seven communities at The Cliffs. As autumn brings a new life to the Blue Ridge Mountains –– our team at The Cliffs looks forward to hosting many sporting events during this season.
As a result of the crisp mountain air and colorful foliage, our members can take advantage of their favorite outdoor activities while home in their private corner of the Carolinas. To help you plan for the golf and tennis events happening at The Cliffs this fall, here is a list of a few upcoming events you can participate in over the next few months.
Golf Tournaments at The Cliffs this Fall

1. The Men’s Interclub Championship
Location: The Cliffs at Mountain Park
When: October 3
Start the fall season with The Men’s Interclub Championship at the magnificent course at The Cliffs at Mountain Park. This competitive tournament brings together golfers from all of our communities to play for bragging rights. With 14 of the 18 holes set along the banks of a winding mountain river, lush grasses, and dramatic mounding, players will have the perfect setting for this year’s champion to be crowned.
2. Blue Ridge Classic Men’s Member-Guest
Location: The Cliffs at Walnut Cove
When: October 6-9
Join us for the 2022 Men’s Blue Ridge Classic Invitational! We have a fantastic event planned for you and your guest, from October 6 to 9. It begins with a Thursday practice round and a Player Stag Night that evening. Competition begins on Friday, with a round-robin 9-hole match play format, and the field will be divided into flights of six teams. Two matches will be played on Friday and Saturday and the final match, along with the Shootout, will be played on Sunday. The event will conclude with an awards dinner and a dance Sunday evening.
3. The Renegade
Location: The Cliffs at Keowee Springs
When: October 12-15
Join us at our charming lake community, The Cliffs at Keowee Springs for a challenging and exciting tournament on one of our most scenic courses. The format of the event will be Four Ball Match Play with partners. You and your partner will compete together, each playing his or her own ball. The lower of the two scores will be counted for that particular hole –– so you’ll want to choose your partner wisely!
4. Glassy’s Black Bear Invitational
Location: The Cliffs at Glassy
When: October 12-15
Join us for the 29th annual Black Bear Invitational which is our Men’s Member Guest tournament, played at our mountain-top course, The Cliffs at Glassy. This event will include 3 rounds of 18-hole tournament competition with a Guest partner of your choosing and one practice round. The format is a team match play for all rounds. Be on the lookout for those bears!
5. The Lake Keowee Cup
Location: The Cliffs at Keowee Falls
When: October 13-16
This annual challenge match features The Cliffs at Keowee Falls members competing against members from our other lake communities, The Cliffs at Keowee Vineyards, and The Cliffs at Keowee Springs. A unique aspect of this event is that players must qualify to play, and it is one of only a few events at The Cliffs that is played without handicaps.
6. Valley Employee-Member Golf Outing
Location: The Cliffs Valley Golf Course
When: October 18
Please join us for a day of fun, fellowship, and food at the Cliffs Valley! If you enjoy playing golf and want to hang out with Valley Associates from all departments, now is your chance! Sign up for either 9 or 18 holes and we will pair you with a member of our team. Tee times start from 9:00 to 11:00 am.
7. Lake Keowee Couples Invitational
Location: The Cliffs at Keowee Springs
When: October 19-22
Late into the fall, while the leaves begin to turn bright reds, oranges, and yellows, The Cliffs at Keowee Springs golf course takes on a whole new look –– making it one of the most entertaining times of the year to compete on the course. Our Lake Keowee Couples Invitational Tournament will be the perfect time to grab a partner and play the sport you love. It’s going to be a four-day event you won’t want to miss!
8. Glow Golf at Keowee Falls Putters Club
Location: The Cliffs at Keowee Falls
When: October 27
Come out and get spooky with the Falls team for this special Halloween-themed Putters Club Society Social. This event will feature a glow golf theme that will be a spectacle for all who attend. We will be serving food and drinks while hosting a 9-hole putting competition on our special themed course. There will be prizes given out at the end to the best putters of the evening!
Racquet Sports Tournaments at The Cliffs this Fall
Interested in playing a game of tennis – or maybe try your hand at racquetball? Grab your rackets and head out to the courts for these exciting fall tournaments –– all held within our community gates.
1. Ralph & Larry’s Excellent Pickleball Adventure
Location: The Cliffs at Keowee Springs
When: October 1
Want to find out more about the up-and-coming sport of pickleball? Well, now’s your chance! Sign up for our one-day pickleball clinic hosted at The Cliffs at Keowee Springs and learn about the history of the sport, the rules of the game, and the different types of hits. So, whether you’re new to the sport or are looking to improve, this clinic is for you!
2. Tennis Cliffs Club Men’s Doubles
Location: The Cliffs Valley
When: October 3-8
Fast-paced and electrifying, doubles tournaments are as exciting to watch as they are to play. This year, The Cliffs Valley will be hosting two doubles tournaments back to back, starting with the Men’s Doubles Championship. So, grab your doubles partner and head out to the court for a thrilling week of competition.
3. Tennis Cliffs Club Mixed Doubles
Location: The Cliffs Valley
When: October 10 – 15
The week after the Men’s Doubles Championship is the Mixed Doubles Championship. This exciting tournament will bring together players from all communities to play for bragging rights as this year’s winner. Teams will include both male and female players, creating a more dynamic game once players take the court.
4. Tennis Cliffs Club Men’s/Ladies Singles
Location: The Cliffs Valley
When: October 17 – 21
Following the Mixed Doubles Championship, the men’s and women’s players take the court to battle for the title of singles champion. Both the Men’s and the Women’s championships will be played over the course of five days, so get ready to enjoy a week filled with friendly competition and socializing.
5. Pumpkin Pickleball at Valley
Location: The Cliffs Valley
When: October 26
Grab your pickleball gear and head out to The Cliffs Valley for a day filled with fun racquet sports and the fall spirit! Here, you will compete against other players from all seven communities at The Cliffs, while taking in the scenic views of the surrounding mountains.
