Opened in 2005 and inspired by the design of small European villages, The Cliffs at Walnut Cove blends superbly with the surrounding landscape while still providing a pop against the Western Carolina foliage. The idea from the start was to provide ample opportunities to immerse oneself in nature, from private hiking to miles of mountain bike trails. 

The Club Village, which was named the country’s best new clubhouse by Golf Digest upon its inception, features The Tavern at Walnut Cove, which covers around 12,000 square feet and features a dining room, bar, and elegant meeting space. Sticking true to the European aesthetic, The Tavern features rustic wooden beams and farm-fresh ingredients that will leave any patron satisfied.

The golf course at Walnut Cove was designed for how the sport was intended to be played—perfectly intertwined with the surrounding nature. The Jack Nicklaus-designed course is a testament to the many years of expertise that go into designing such a magnificent setting. As players meander their way through forest and cascading streams, you can’t help but ease into a relaxed state.  

The Golf House was also designed with a European feel and gives the impression that one is approaching a grand European lodge rather than a clubhouse in Western Carolina. Even Nicklaus himself needs to practice his swing from time to time, and the practice facilities at Walnut Cove are indeed the centerpiece of the whole experience. Over the years, club members have perfected their short and long game on the multi-tiered natural turn teeing ground and the meticulously manicured putting and chipping areas.
